1. APA ITU FUNCTIONAL SKILLS?

Functional skills adalah keahlian atau kemampuan seseorang dalam menggunakan bahasa tindak tutur (speech act) dalam rangka melangsungkan suatu interaksi atau komunikasi dalam konteks pragmatik. Sesuai dengan fungsi pragmatik, yaitu untuk berkomunikasi, tindak tutur bahasa meliputi kemampuan menyampaikan fikiran dan perasaan kepada orang lain, cara-cara mengungkapkan sopan santun, cara-cara memberi nasihat, anjuran, perintah permohonan dan peringatan, tata cara memberi salam, berkenalan, meminta maaf, cara mengungkapkan keharanan, dan lain sebagainya.

2. BENTUK-BENTUK FUNCTIONAL SKILLS

    1).  Expression of Introducing

    Went you want to introduce yourself or you want to introduce your friend to someone/other. You 

    can use these expressions:

    A. Introducing Yourself

    B. Introducing Others

   C. Meeting an Old Friend 

   2).  Expression of Greeting and Leave-Taking

   There are several ways to meet or to greet a person and some more useful expressions for saying 

   goodbye. Some are formal and others are informal.

   A. Greeting

       b. Informal Greeting                                   Responding

       c. Greeting a new acquaintance

           Good bye!

           See you soon/later/tomorrow                       I hope so
